Meet Mary

Mary Lor is a painter, contemporary wool artist, and seeker of great images who enjoys using vibrant colors in her work.
Mary discovered her artistic abilities and the joy it brought her only after college, graduate school, and a career in the business world. She began her artistic career as a floral designer and progressed, over time, into painting, wool art, and photography. Working primarily in oils, Mary has studied painting with New York painters Eric Michelson, Melanie Kozol, and Brian Rutenberg. Her wool “paintings” combine her painting and fiber-arts skills to create beautiful, textural art. During the Coronavirus pandemic, Mary added painting with gouache to her repertoire so she could paint safely at home with water and paper.
An emerging artist, Mary’s work is in private collections in the United States, Europe, and Asia. Her art has been shown in juried exhibitions at the National Association of Women Artists, Westbeth Gallery, and the 92nd St. Y in New York City, Mills Pond House Gallery, Fotofoto Gallery, and Gallery North on Long Island, Blue Door Art Center in Yonkers, and Filoli in Woodside, California.
